  • One of my family members needs emergent transportation, what should I do?

    Call 911 Emergency Response right away!

  • One of my family members needs non-emergency transport, can Carolina MedCare help?

    Yes!  To schedule any type of non-emergency transportation, call us at 866-662-4600.

  • What is the difference between Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support Ambulances?

    Basic Life Support (BSL) ambulances are staffed by two South Carolina State certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's)EMT's are trained to handle all emergencies and stabilize patients for transfer to advanced care (Paramedics or the Emergency Room).  Advanced Life Support Ambulances are staffed by one or two South Carolina state certified Paramedics.  Paramedics are more highly trained and possess the ability and authority to perform invasive procedures such as cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and intubation.

  • Should my patient or family member go by Ambulance or Wheelchair Transportation?

    At the time of transport, if you can answer “Yes” to any of these questions, your patient or family member needs Wheelchair Transportation.

    Can the patient get up from the bed unassisted?

    Can the patient ambulate, i.e. turn, pivot or bear weight, unassisted? 

    Can the patient sit up in a wheelchair for the length of time during transport?

    If the answer is “No”, your patient or family member needs Ambulance Transportation.
